| THEGREAT BOBO JUG BAND TAKES WAFFLE IRON AT MINNEAPOLIS BATTLE  DATELINE Minneapolis, MN: About400 people came to hear fourteen bands battle it out Sunday, February7th for the coveted traveling waffle iron at the Minneapolis EighteenthAnnual Battle of the Jug Bands. The judges, Brad Murphy ofMinneapolis and Bebo White of Stanford, Calif. (of the Loose LicksJug Band), had a particularly difficult time coming up with a winnerbased upon the quality bands that this years battle brought. But whenthe dust cleared The Great Bobo Jug Band was announced the winnersof the Eighteenth Battle.
Members of the winning bandinclude Gaylan Michealsen, Judy Larson, Milton "Soupy" Schindler, BillHinckley, Bob "Bobo" Stelnicki, Dave Ray, Cal Hand and Ralph Wittcoff. 
There was a bit of drama at onepoint when the trophy Traveling Waffle Iron disappeared from its redvelvet perch. Eventually the culprit, a member of the Sorrels UntiedJug Band which shall remain nameless, was found out. The Larson-nessstill maintains her innocence but obeyed the sentence of steering clearof the waffle iron for the rest of the day.
Tradition continued with anabundance of food 'Minnesota potluck style' as attendees feasted onpastas, salads, roasted turkey, desserts and dips. Once againparticipants from Northern Minnesota brought an abundance of smoked fishwhich is rapidl 9y becoming a tradition itself.
